Our Specialty

Veterinary Medicine Is Our Specialty

Veterinary medicine presents a unique combination of clinical, operational, and human challenges. Organizations must support professionals working within environments characterized by high emotional demands, ethically complex decision-making, workforce shortages, and increasing service expectations. These conditions influence not only employee well-being, but also retention, team effectiveness, workplace culture, and long-term organizational performance. Meaningful improvement requires more than individual-level solutions. It requires a deliberate approach to leadership, workforce development, and organizational effectiveness that reflects the realities of veterinary practice.

These realities create people challenges that go far beyond what generic wellness programs can address — and they require thoughtful leadership, strong organizational systems, and solutions built specifically for this profession.

What We Help Organizations Achieve

01

Improve Employee Retention and Workforce Stability

Employee retention is influenced by a combination of workforce and organizational factors that develop over time. Leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, team functioning, workplace culture, and opportunities for meaningful contribution all shape an employee's experience within an organization. When these factors are strengthened, organizations are better positioned to retain talent, preserve institutional knowledge, maintain operational continuity, and support long-term organizational performance.

02

Strengthen Leadership Effectiveness

Leadership influences employee engagement, retention, communication, accountability, and team performance. The quality of leadership shapes how employees experience their work, respond to challenges, and contribute to organizational goals. Organizations that invest in leadership development are better positioned to strengthen workforce outcomes, support high-performing teams, and sustain long-term organizational success.

03

Develop Team Effectiveness

Team performance is influenced by the quality of interactions between the people responsible for achieving organizational goals. Communication, trust, accountability, collaboration, and psychological safety shape how teams learn, solve problems, respond to challenges, and coordinate their efforts. Organizations that strengthen these factors create conditions that support more effective teams, stronger workplace cultures, and improved organizational outcomes.

04

Strengthen Employee Engagement

Employee engagement reflects the degree to which individuals feel connected to their work, invested in organizational goals, and motivated to contribute their best efforts. Leadership, workplace culture, communication, team effectiveness, and opportunities for meaningful contribution all influence engagement. Organizations that strengthen these conditions are better positioned to cultivate an engaged workforce, improve collaboration, and support sustained organizational performance.

05

Build the Conditions That Support Consistent Performance

Organizations perform best when employees are engaged, supported, and able to contribute effectively over time. Workforce reliability is influenced by leadership, team functioning, workplace culture, and the day-to-day employee experience. Organizations that strengthen these factors are better positioned to maintain workforce stability, support operational effectiveness, and achieve consistent performance.

06

Support the Workforce That Supports Patient Care

Patient outcomes are influenced by more than clinical knowledge and technical expertise. Communication, teamwork, workload, decision-making, and workforce stability all contribute to the quality and consistency of care delivery. Organizations that invest in workforce effectiveness, team functioning, and sustainable performance are better positioned to support both employee well-being and high-quality patient care.

Outcomes You Can Measure

Every engagement is designed to produce results you can quantify: lower turnover costs, higher engagement scores, stronger leadership effectiveness, and teams that perform when it matters most.

Built for Your Industry

About the Founder

Andrea Techera, M.A.

Founder & Principal Consultant

Andrea Techera is a behavioral science consultant, researcher, and master's-level clinician whose work focuses on the human factors that influence organizational performance.

Drawing from graduate training in Clinical Counseling Psychology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, workforce research, and more than a decade of business ownership, Andrea helps organizations better understand the behavioral and organizational factors that influence employee engagement, workforce stability, leadership effectiveness, team functioning, and long-term performance.

Andrea earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling Psychology & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from Assumption University, where she was awarded a competitive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Research Fellowship. Her work integrates behavioral science, organizational research, and evidence-based psychological principles to help leaders address workforce challenges and improve organizational outcomes.

Her research has focused on occupational burnout, the psychological determinants of sustained performance, professional identity, moral injury, behavioral adherence, and psychological well-being in caregiving and high-demand professions. She is also the author of PhD research examining moral injury, human-animal relationships, and suicide risk among veterinary professionals.

In addition to her research background, Andrea has provided clinical services within community mental health settings, supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma-related concerns, and complex life stressors through evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Prior to pursuing advanced behavioral science training, Andrea spent more than ten years operating and managing a successful business while also working within coaching, animal welfare, and public service environments. These experiences provided first-hand insight into the workforce challenges faced by professionals operating in emotionally demanding, high-responsibility roles and continue to inform her practical, systems-oriented consulting approach.

Today, Andrea combines behavioral science, organizational consulting, clinical expertise, research, and real-world leadership experience to help organizations strengthen workforce outcomes, develop more effective leaders, improve workforce stability, and create the conditions where both people and performance can thrive.

Veterinary Medicine: A Particular Focus

Veterinary medicine remains a particular area of focus within Andrea's work.

Veterinary professionals operate at the intersection of medical care, ethical decision-making, client service, and emotionally demanding caregiving responsibilities. These unique conditions create workforce challenges that extend beyond traditional models of burnout and stress.

Through Muzzle the Hustle™, Andrea works with veterinary organizations to address the root causes of turnover and disengagement, support employee well-being, and build the organizational conditions that allow high-performing teams to sustain their performance over time.

Her ongoing research examining moral injury, caregiving relationships, occupational stress, and suicide risk within veterinary populations further informs this work and reflects a long-standing commitment to supporting the veterinary profession.

At the center of her work

"Organizations achieve their best outcomes when they invest in the people responsible for creating them."
